During my trip to Miami, Giralda Ave in Coral Gables was a must-stop on my list. I had heard about the Sun Stories art installation from Jessy Nite that features words and poems suspended above and then cast a beautiful image on that ground when the sun shines through. Jessy Nite is a local Miami artist that specializes in creating art installations that interact with the environment. I knew I had to see it.
It is mesmerizing. The sun was shining, and there was a breeze, so the colorful words were dancing on the ground. There were words like “SERENITY” and “PARADISE,” which strung together formed poetry that created a whole different experience than just reading words on paper.
We just wandered around reading the words and trying to decide our favorite passage. It was also the perfect spot to test different camera angles and play around with different lenses on the camera.
There was also a beautiful patio with dining spaces under huge palm trees. It would be a great spot to sit, eat lunch, and enjoy being outside.
The buildings in Coral Gables around Giralda Ave were amazing displays of different types of architecture. We could have wandered around all day taking photos.
